We closed our cafe in Traverse City at the end of 2012, and are in the process of relocating (hopefully somewhere in the Suttons Bay/Omena area). We will spread the word fast and wide when the move is official and we have some dates to give you!
9 Bean Rows Story
In 2001 I learned to bake bread working for La Chatelaine French Bakery and Cafè in Columbus, OH. It was there, working under chef/general manager Tad Wielezinski, I fell in love with bread, food, farming, wine, the whole nine yards. Eight years, an agricultural degree, a job at a winery, and a move to Northern MI later, I returned to baking (and farming) pour l´amore au bon pain et pour le passion du travaille! on a quest to improve, not only my bread but the culinary traditions in our region.
For instance, our flock of free range, pastured chickens provides the bakery an abundance of highly nutritional eggs that offer superior flavor and baking qualities. We also grow strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples, raspberries, cherries, pumpkins, squash, herbs and more. Our next focus will be to grow our own rye followed by wheat, both major tasks.
